Detlev Samland, European Director Public Affairs

Detlev Samland is an Engineering graduate in urban development and regional planning. From 1977 to 1980, he worked at the Institute for Technology Transfer set up by the Universities of the Ruhr Area. In 1980, he became CEO of his own advertising agency in Essen, Germany.

In 1989, Detlev Samland became a Member of the European Parliament and held the following positions: Chairman of the European Parliament Budgetary Committee, Member of the Committee on Energy, Research and Technology, Member of the Economic Delegation EU - PR of China. In 2000, he became Managing Director of the CINEROPA e. V. and consultant to the Arab Emirates.

From 2000 to 2001, he was Minister for Federal and European Affairs for the state of Northrhine-Westphalia. He joined ECC Kohtes Klewes in July 2001 and became Partner, Member of the International Board and Head of ECC Public Affairs.
