Pleon Grows Financial Communications Offering

Five senior consultants from Citigate Dewe Rogerson and Cognikom to lead expanding financial communications practice

Pleon, the leading European communications consultancy, today announced the appointment of five senior consultants in Germany to head its growing Financial Communications Practice. The five consultants hail from Citigate Dewe Rogerson and BBDO partner agency, Cognikom. The move creates a team with the most extensive communications track record for capital market transactions ever assembled by an Agency in Germany and further strengthens Pleon’s European offering.

Former Cognikom partners Juergen Herres and Marc Drechsler will now lead the practice as managing partners. Dirk Strubberg from Cognikom and Elizabeth Ramelsberger and Christof Schramm from Citigate Dew Rogerson have also been appointed as partners. Each individual boasts a highly successful record in financial communications within large corporations or agencies and together account for more than 80 high profile financial and corporate transactions worth 70 billion Euros. They have worked closely with more than 20 of the DAX30 in Germany, including the landmark capital market transactions of Deutsche Telekom, Deutsche Post and Infineon, as well as MDAX-companies Fraport and Postbank.

“Pleon is committed to hiring the very best consultants and this team’s well established track record for capital market transaction and financial communications complements the services offered by our functional practices,” said Dr. Rainer Zimmermann, CEO, Pleon. “Pleon is fast becoming a one-stop shop for communications in Europe and these appointments allow our clients to benefit from the most experienced investor and communications talent in Germany.”

The Financial Communications Practice is focused on the development and implementation of communications strategies for financial corporate communications and capital market transactions – such as initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions – as well as capital increases and all project management activities related to these transactions.

“Communicating to financial stakeholders such as bankers, lawyers, journalists and political interest groups is becoming increasingly more important as mergers and acquisitions, IPO and capital increases gain relevance to company growth strategies,” said Jürgen Herres, Practice Leader, Financial Communications. “By adding our collective expertise to Pleon’s deep understanding of the political and marketing disciplines and broad footprint in Europe, we can offer a strategic advantage when it comes to financial communications.”

In Germany, Pleon’s Financial Communications will consist of offices located in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt/Main and Munich. The Dusseldorf team will include former Cognikom partners Juergen Herres, Marc Drechsler and Dirk Strubberg, in addition to Christof Schramm and Elisabeth Ramelsberger. Schamm is a former Managing Director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson Germany and Ramelsberger headed media relations at Siemens Corporation and was a Senior Director at Citigate Dewe Rogerson in Dusseldorf .

The team is completed by Stefan Denig and Reiner Roßmann. Reiner Roßmann will head the Frankfurt/Main office as Managing Director. He has extensive experience in the investment banking industry at Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where he held various senior positions in ECM/Corporate Finance, Equity Trading in Frankfurt and London, such as the Head of Equity Capital Markets of Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in Frankfurt.

Stefan Denig, another former Senior Director at Citigate Dewe Rogerson, will head up the Munich office. He has a proven track record with investor relations and media relations through positions at Allianz AG, Siemens AG and HypoVereinsbank AG.
